Praxis Braille Proficiency (0633) Test

The purpose of the Praxis Braille Proficiency (0633) is to measure the requisite braille knowledge and skills that an entry-level teacher of visually impaired students (TVI) or an entry-level teacher of braille must possess. Registration

To register for the Praxis Braille exam at Arizona State University, follow these steps:

1. Go to Praxis Braille Proficiency Test

2. Add the exam to your cart and click “Check Out.”

3. Click “Schedule My Test(s),” then select your test center, date, and time and complete the registration process.

Reschedule or Cancel Exam Date

To reschedule or cancel your registration, call ETS at 1-800-772-9476.

If you are feeling ill on the test day, please do not come to the testing center, instead contact ETS to reschedule.

Duration

The exam length is 4 hours.

Exam Day Admission Requirements

Bring the following items for admission to the testing site: 

  • Admission ticket with correct exam name, test date, and center information or an authorization letter
  • Acceptable ID (see ID options below) with a photo and signature
  • A Manual (non-electric) Braille writer and a traditional (not direct) 27- or 28-cell, 4-line slate and stylus are required. The Braillewriter must accommodate 11 ½-by-11 inch Braille paper 
  • A Braille eraser (optional)
  • A pencil 

Other materials are not permitted in the testing session.

Identification (ID) Requirements

All test takers are responsible for bringing valid and acceptable identification each time they report to a test center. Ensure your ID is valid and up-to-date. It must:

  • Match the first and last names used during registration.
  • Be valid (not expired) and bear a recent photo, name, and signature.

If your name has changed since registration, you must ensure that you have an appropriate ID matching the name on your registration to show at the test center. It is recommended that you have an ID in the correct name BEFORE completing registration.

International test-takers must present a valid passport with a name, photograph, and signature as their primary ID document. 

Acceptable IDs include:

  • Passport
  • Passport Card (U.S. only, with valid supplemental ID)
  • Driver’s license 
  • State or Province ID card (including those issued by the motor vehicle agencies)
  • National ID card
  • Military ID card
