Please be advised that properly wearing a face cover is mandatory in all ASU buildings, and face coverings are to be worn for the duration of the exam. Single-layer neck fleece covers, also known as gaiters, and face coverings with valves do not satisfy the requirement for use of a face covering on campus.
Please do not come to the testing center if you are feeling ill or experiencing symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, diarrhea, vomiting, loss of smell or taste, sore throat, muscle pain). If you are feeling ill on the day of the exam or if you believe you have been exposed in the last 14 days to someone who was currently positive or awaiting results for COVID-19, please contact our office to reschedule the exam.
For additional details about ASU’s COVID-19 mitigation strategy, visit the ASU Coronavirus FAQs.
Due to the current situation, the testing schedule is published one month at a time. Please contact our office at 480-965-7146 or uts@asu.edu if you do not find an appointment that meets your needs or need to test in person.

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)®, Version VI, evaluates areas that are essential for academic success in nursing programs. This computer-based, multiple choice exam is divided into four sub-tests:
Total test time is 3 hours and 48 minutes (209 minutes). You should allow approximately 4 hours for the total appointment time which includes time for the check-in process and exam instructions.
Questions regarding admission requirements should be addressed to the College of Nursing and Health Innovation.
ATI-TEAS Remote Proctoring requires two steps. Complete aTEAS pre-appointment (known as a dry-run) at least 2 business days prior to the TEAS exam appointment.
Prior to completing the first step, you need to create an account with ATI. Please go to www.atitesting.com and click on Create New Account. It takes about five minutes to complete this process. If you wish to have your scores sent to ASU's College of Nursing and Health Innovation, please select "AZ State U" from the institution dropdown menu when creating an account. In order to access the test, you will need to enter the ATI username and password that you create. Your ATI username and password are required for both the pre-appointment (dry-run) and TEAS appointment.
ATI-TEAS Remote Proctoring requires two steps. Step 1, the pre-appointment known as the dry-run will need to be completed 2 business days prior to your exam appointment. The dry-run portion is required to ensure your equipment is prepared to run smoothly on test day. By preparing and managing issues before, the dry-run will help reduce log-in stress on the day of your exam and allow you to focus on the TEAS exam. This step does not include nursing related questions and will only take a fraction of the time to complete. We ask that you reserve 30-minutes to complete the dry-run on the computer you plan to use for the exam. A week prior to your exam, UTSS staff will email instructions to the email address you entered when registering. Documentation must be provided when you complete the dry-run step - Instructions are included in the email you will receive.
Tablets, iPads and smartphones are not approved devices. The computer must have a webcam, microphone and high-speed internet connection. On both days ensure you have your ATI account username and password available along with your valid state issued ID or ASU Sun Card ID.
Log-in to the ATI site at the time of your appointment from the computer that was set-up during the pre-appointment. Ensure you have your ATI account username and password available along with your valid state issued ID or ASU Sun Card ID. You must be in a quiet uninterrupted location, free from any resources that may help you on the exam. Follow the screen prompts to log in and begin the TEAS exam.
Exam entrance requires a valid photo ID. You must also know or have with you your 10-digit ASU affiliate ID number (does not apply to non-ASU candidates), your ATI account user ID and password in order to take the test.
The TEAS exam registration fee is $93.00. Registration fees are non-refundable.
Please do not register for a group testing time.
Academic testing accommodations for qualified students can be granted through the Student Accessibility and Inclusive Learning Services (SAILS) - Phone: (480) 965-1234. Do this as soon as possible.
Once registered and approved, individual testing arrangements with UTSS must be made by email (uts@asu.edu) or via phone (480) 965-7146.
To request staff assistance with the TEAS pre-appointment (dry-run), please call our office at 480-965-7146 or email uts@asu.edu with your availability a minimum of two days before the TEAS appointment to schedule a dry-run with staff.
To reschedule your TEAS exam appointment, the following conditions must be met.
You will see your test scores at the end of your testing period. To review your Individual Performance Profile (your score and topics to review/improve) you can return and log in to your ATI account.
Applicants are allowed one attempt at the TEAS per application cycle, unless a failing score below 58.7% is earned. If a student earns less than a 58.7% one retest is permitted, but the student must wait a minimum of 30 days between tests, and the second attempt must be before the application deadline.
Application cycles are defined as:
*Please contact ASU’s nursing department for additional information regarding the application cycles as it relates to COVID-19.
Failure to comply with these restrictions will result in the cancellation of your test results and forfeiture of your entire exam fee. Scores are valid up to one year from when a student took the test. Students must confirm with their academic advisor whether a TEAS score will be valid. Do I have to complete the TEAS pre-appointment?
The dry-run portion is required to ensure your equipment is prepared to run smoothly on test day and prevent the need to reschedule your appointment. By preparing and managing issues before, the dry-run will help reduce log-in stress on the day of your exam and allow you to focus on the TEAS exam. This step does not include nursing related questions and will only take a fraction of the time to complete. We ask that you reserve 30-minutes to complete the dry-run on the computer you plan to use for the exam 24-48 hours prior to your exam.
What type of material will be included in the pre-appointment?
The first step is required to set up your computer and ensure your system will correctly operate on your exam date. It does not include any nursing exam related questions. You will receive an email with detailed instructions after you register.
Is the pre-appointment graded?
The pre-appointment is not graded. It is referred to as an assessment within the ATI system.
What if I don’t complete the pre-appointment session?
If you are unable to complete the pre-appointment session, we will work with you to reschedule.
Will I receive a score report?
You will see your test scores at the end of your testing period. To review your Individual Performance Profile (your score and topics to review/improve) log in to your ATI account.
Is the exam fee more or the same as the in-person option? Is there an added fee?
The exam registration fee remains the same for remote or in-person testing. The added service fee for remote testing is not passed on to students and is covered by the department.
