Students who have taken a DSST (DANTES [Defense Activity for Nontraditional Education Support] Subject Standardized Test) may receive university credit. Credit is awarded for score results at or above the American Council on Education’s recommended score if the subject examination is applicable to a program of study at ASU or may be assigned elective credit. To receive credit, a transcript showing the DSST results must be received by ASU directly from the DSST Prometric.
A list of available DSST examinations and the ASU course equivalents can be found in the ASU General Catalog. A link to archived catalogs can also be found on this page.
DSST credit is not given at ASU when any of the following situations apply:
DSST fees total $120 and must be paid in two separate payments: a $35 non-refundable and non-transferrable registration fee in the form of a credit/debit card or e-check and an exam fee of $85 payable to DSST - Prometric by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, or JCB) on exam day. Cash or check payments cannot be accepted.
As a fully funded test center, active military members (includes Reserve Components and Coast Guard Personnel), spouses and civilian employees of: Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard, Army National Guard, Army Reserve, and Coast Guard (Active and Reserve) and DoD acquisition workforce personnel will have both the DSST fee and administrative waived. NOTE: DoD Acquisition Workforce Personnel are only eligible for the following DSST exams: Principles of Statistics, Principles of Finance, Principles of Financial Accounting, Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, and Business Law II. A DSST exam can be completed in 90 minutes or less, but examinees should allow 2 hours for their appointment time. DSST testing sessions are available on average twice a week, all year long - including summer and winter break!
Please note: All registration fees are non-refundable.
In order to reschedule your test, you must re-register for another available date. Also you must pay a new $35 registration fee to Arizona State University as required in the Cost section above. This registration fee is not refundable or transferable.
