UOEEE Assessment Newsletter Volume 6, Issue 2 - September 2026
IMPORTANT DATES
Annual Assessment Reports Due September 30
Annual assessment reporting is an important part of ASU’s program assessment cycle. The annual report provides an opportunity for academic programs to reflect on assessment activities from the previous reporting year (June 2025–May 2026), including:
- Data collected to assess student learning
- Assessment results and what the findings indicate about student learning
- Continuous improvement efforts in response to assessment findings
- Plans for action to improve program assessment plan or processes in the coming year
Key deadlines
September 30, 2026: Reports due in the portal for review by assessment delegates
October 30, 2026: Completed reports due from delegates to UOEEE
POLICY CHANGE REMINDER
Data Collection for Low Enrolled Programs
The low-enrollment designation, which allowed programs with 20 or fewer students to submit annual assessment reports without collecting student data, has been discontinued. All active programs will be required to collect assessment data annually. This change will ensure consistent data availability, allow programs to aggregate findings across cycles for annual reporting and APR, and eliminate uncertainty regarding data collection expectations.
OPPORTUNITIES TO CONNECT
Training Workshops
Registration for the Fall 2026 Basic and Focused Workshop Series is now open on the Assessment Workshops page.
Multiple dates for the Assessment Report Workshop have been added in September to support programs preparing their annual reports.
Monthly Office Hours
The assessment team is hosting office hours on the third Wednesday of every month (3:30-4:30pm) to provide guidance and answer questions on all things related to program assessment, including new plan applications, plan and report submissions, assessment portal navigation, canvas tagging, etc. Contact your assessment delegate or email [email protected] for Zoom link.
ACADEMIC PROGRAM REVIEW
For academic units undergoing academic program review (APR) in the current 2026-27 cycle, the assessment team is available to assist in retrieving historical assessment report data, writing the reflective essay portion of the self-study that addresses learning outcomes and assessment activities, and completing the required revisions to program assessment plans for your next seven-year cycle.

PORTAL IMPROVEMENTS
Accessing University Survey Results
Many programs use university survey questions as a source of indirect data in their assessment plans. To make it easier to identify available survey questions and access survey results, a new magnifying glass icon has been added to the top-right menu of assessment plan and report pages.

Selecting the magnifying glass will take you directly to the survey reporting page for the designated program, where you can view questions relevant to program assessment and the data collected to date.

Linking University Survey Items
Programs that use university survey questions as indirect measures can link those questions to their assessment plan. Once linked, the survey data will automatically appear as a table in the program’s annual assessment report, making it easier to incorporate the results into the report.
Instructions on how to link university survey questions to your assessment plan can be found in the UOEEE Assessment Portal User Guide.
CANVAS TAGGING DASHBOARDS
UOEEE has partnered with ASU Enterprise Technology (ET) to offer assessment dashboards to academic units that would like to automate their annual assessment data collection using Canvas tagging. The dashboards allow for assessment data to be disaggregated by academic plan code (major/non-major) and modality (online/immersion) to support annual assessment reporting requirements. Check out the Canvas Tagging page in the Data Collection Module of the UOEEE Assessment Resources in Canvas, Canvas Tagging in Program Assessment Guide and the dashboard prototype.
If you are interested in tagging and would like to discuss it further please contact the UOEEE assessment team at [email protected].
