FAQs about Blue
What is Blue?
Explorance Blue (or "Blue") is the end-of-course evaluation system ASU transitioned to in summer 2025. The last course evaluations in Anthology’s Evaluate (CoursEval) system were done in spring 2025.
The Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law and the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering were not part of the transition as they use their own course evaluation systems.
How do faculty and students access Blue?
Visit asu.edu/evaluate or asu.bluera.com. Faculty and students use the same portal, but the content and options they see depend on their role.
Students and faculty receive an automated email from Blue the day their course evaluation opens (and reminders before it closes). Each email notification has a link to Blue, where they can see all of their open evals
How will faculty know when evaluations are open?
Faculty receive an email the day their course evaluations open.
The default survey open and close dates for each semester are listed on our Online FAQs page. If you see dates for a previous semester, clear your browser’s cache and refresh the page.
Can faculty monitor the response rate?
Yes. Faculty can go into Blue and review their Tasks to see response rate by course (or click the link in the emails sent by Blue).
Once the survey closes, response rates can only be seen on the Response Rate Monitor dashboard, located in the left sidebar in Blue.
Will faculty be able to identify which students completed the questionnaire?
No, faculty can view the total number of responses but cannot see individual student names or their responses.
Reports: When are they available?
Administrators and course eval reps have access to reports the day after the survey closes.
Faculty have access to reports the day after all grades for the class have been entered.
Reports: How to access and download
Go to Blue and click on the Reports tab (asu.bluera.com/reports).
Click here for a guide on how to download reports individually or in bulk.
Reports: What does "threshold not met" mean?
The threshold means a specific number of students needed to complete the survey for a report to be released.
For administrator access, the threshold is 1. For faculty access, the threshold is 5.
