I-TOEFL® (Institutional Test of English as a Foreign Language) (ITP)
The Institutional Test of English as a Foreign Language (I-TOEFL®) is used to evaluate English proficiency of individuals whose native language is not English.
Institutional TOEFL® (ITP) scores are ONLY valid at Arizona State University and cannot be forwarded to any other college or university and transcript service is not available for this exam. Registration is limited to prospective students actively applying to ASU or admitted ASU students.
To take I-TOEFL (ITP)
Please read the following information about I-TOEFL. Next, proceed to the registration page to select and pay for the exam appointment. After the first step is completed you will receive a detailed email with instructions for the exam date. On the test date, follow the instructions provided to begin your exam.
Admission to the Exam
Exam entrance requires a valid passport and your ASU ID number. The name on your passport must match the name on your registration.
You must check in at least 30 minutes before test time to be admitted.
Cost
The Institutional TOEFL exam registration fee is $72 and must be paid at the time of registration in the form of a credit/debit card. This is a non-refundable registration fee. You may transfer to another exam date for a $15 transfer fee, if you do it on or before your originally scheduled exam date.
All registrations are final. Students cannot receive refunds; transfer the test fee to tuition payment or give/sell an Institutional TOEFL seat to another student.
Testing Accommodation
Please do not register for a group testing time. Instead contact us to coordinate an appointment or learn more regarding the accomodation process.
Academic testing accommodations for qualified students can be granted through the Student Accessibility and Inclusive Learning Services (SAILS) - Phone: (480) 965-1234. Do this as soon as possible.
Once registered and approved, individual testing arrangements with UTSS must be made by email ([email protected]) or via phone (480) 965-7146.

Register
Registration is limited to current Global Launch and ASU students. Seating is limited for each testing session and spaces usually fill quickly. We highly recommend early registration so that you will be assured of a seat.** NOTE: YOU MUST WAIT 30 DAYS BETWEEN EXAM SESSIONS. Registration may be completed by PHONE (480-965-7146) or ONLINE by clicking on the Register Online button.
During the registration process you must provide the following:
- ***ASU Student Identification Number (ASU Student ID# (this is a 10-digit number found on your Sun Card or in MyASU under My Profile Tab)
- $72 exam registration fee
All registration fees are non-refundable. Testing candidates cannot receive refunds, apply admission fee to a tuition payment or give/sell an Institutional TOEFL seat to another candidate. You may change your registration date, but ONLY ON or BEFORE the originally scheduled exam date. There will be a $15 transfer fee charged for each transfer. To arrange for a transfer, call ASU Testing Services at 480.965.7146.
***If you do not have a valid ASU ID, your appointment will be canceled and the exam registration fee forfeited. If you have questions regarding your eligibility, please contact our office.
Please do not come to the testing center if you are feeling ill. If you are feeling ill on the day of the exam, please contact our office to reschedule.
Reschedule
Transfer of a test fee to another test date can be made under the following conditions:
- Space is available on the requested test date.
- All transfers must be made ON or BEFORE your originally scheduled exam date. After the originally scheduled exam date the full registration fee will be required in order to test.
- To transfer the test date, call or come in to the testing services office and pay a $15.00 transfer fee with a credit card.
Retake
You must wait at least 30 days between exam dates to retake the Institutional TOEFL exam.
Admission to Exam
You must check in 30 minutes prior to your appointment. Late examinees will not be admitted and must reschedule (transfer fee applies). We ask that you make every effort to be on time. We recognize unforeseen situations may arise in which case, please contact our office 480-965-7146 or email [email protected] promptly. Exam entrance requires a valid passport and your ASU ID number. Scores
Institutional TOEFL scores will be uploaded to your student record within 7 - 10 business days. To view scores log in to My ASU (My Classes > Transcripts & Test Scores). Printed official score reports are currently not available at this time due to COVID-19. Scores obtained at ASU are only valid at ASU. Transferring scores to another institution is prohibited.
Parking
Lot 55 - University Center [UCNTRB] parking fees are $3/hr. or $15/day. Pre-pay for parking before coming to the Testing & Scanning Services Office. Payment can be made by using the Park Mobile app (parking zone #60112) or AMP. When considering the payment for your exam, consider check-in and check-out time for the exam, as well as the full length of the exam. I-TOEFL exam appointments are 3 hours in length, including check-in and check-out.
